Recently, the ISO/TC 70 (International Organization for Standardization Internal Combustion Engine Technical Committee) 2025 Annual meeting concluded successfully, and the proposal for the international standard Pre-research work initiative (PWI) on "Identification and Testing Methods for Early Ignition of Hydrogen Fuel Internal Combustion Engines" jointly proposed by Weichai and Beijing Institute of Technology was successfully approved. This is one of the first international standard pre-research projects initiated by ISO/TC70 related to hydrogen internal combustion engines and a unique contribution made by Weichai in the field of technical standards for hydrogen internal combustion engines.

ISO/ TC70, established in 1949, is primarily responsible for the research and formulation of international standard systems such as definitions, performance/tests and special requirements of internal combustion engines. It has one subcommittee, one chair advisory group and six active working groups, with Weichai serving as the convener of the Performance and Tests Working Group (WG4). Led the revision of ISO 3046-1 international standard.

As a pioneer in the field of hydrogen internal combustion engines in China, Weichai, with its deep technological accumulation over the years, successfully applied for the first national key research and development project of hydrogen internal combustion engines in the industry. The products have achieved supporting application in road, non-road and other application scenarios, not only establishing a leading position in the domestic market, but also demonstrating continuously enhanced core competitiveness on the international stage.
